Eventually, the network rejected the invalid block and replaced it with a legitimate block. The erroneous block was generated by F2pool, a well-known cryptocurrency mining pool that enables mining for Bitcoin and more than 40 other cryptocurrencies. Investigations are still ongoing to determine why F2pool produced an invalid block.
According to BitMEX Research, the F2pool's invalid block might have resulted from bad signature transactions. The precise cause, though, is still under investigation.
